Curtain guides
Everything for S Wave, pinch pleat and knife pleat curtains on our tracks: measuring, fitting, tricky spaces and fixing problems. Roller blinds have their own guides.
Four things to decide before you measure
A curtain is measured from the track, not the window. Decide where the track goes first.
Wall or ceiling fix?
- Wall fix: the track goes on the wall, usually about 150 mm above the frame. Under a cornice, leave at least 10 mm below it for the brackets.
- Ceiling fix: the track goes on the ceiling for a floor-to-ceiling look. You need a solid ceiling or batten to screw into.
- A ceiling-fixed track can’t be moved up or down after drilling.
How wide should the track be?
- Run the track past the frame on both sides. 150–300 mm each side is typical.
- When open, the curtain stacks at the ends. The further the track runs, the less glass the stack covers.
- Rule of thumb: the open curtain stacks to about 30% of the track width. The helper works it out.
Which way does it open?
- Centre opening: two panels that stack on both sides.
- Left or right stack: one panel that stacks on one side. Good next to a wall, bed or door.
- Free hang options: ask us which suits your space.
Where should the hem finish?
- Measure from the top of the track (or the ceiling) to the floor, on the left, centre and right.
- Send the shortest. We recommend the curtain sits just off the floor so the fabric can settle.
- New carpet or boards coming? Measure after they’re down.
Special spaces
These need a photo first. We check the space, then tell you exactly what to measure.
- 联系我们Wall to wallA track that runs between two walls. Measure wall to wall at track height. We take 20 mm off so the track fits between them.发送照片
- 联系我们CornersTwo tracks that butt in the corner, or one curved track (inside 90° corners only; outside corners must butt). Measure each wall into the corner.发送照片
- 联系我们Bay windowsA curtain per window, or one continuous curtain with corner curves. Both need the angles at 135°. Send a photo with plenty of wall around it.发送照片
- 联系我们Keeping your old trackEvery curtain comes with a matching track, so the heading and runners work together. Using your own? Pinch pleat needs a loose runner about every 100 mm; S Wave needs strung runners that swivel 360°, about every 60 mm.发送照片
- 指南Motorised tracksCharge the motor before first use. If it stops short, turn it off and check the runners slide the full length by hand, the belt is joined and the joiner is tight, then reset the end points as the motor manual shows.阅读指南
安装之后
- The folds look uneven
- Normal after shipping. Open the curtain, set each fold by hand, and leave it stacked for a few days so the folds settle.
- There’s a hook left over
- For S Wave, every hook sits on its own runner. Count both: the numbers should match.
- My track came in pieces
- Tracks over 2300 mm ship in sections with a joiner. Push each piece onto the joiner until it clicks.
- What do I screw into?
- A stud or ceiling batten wherever you can; elsewhere use plasterboard anchors. Brick: drill 35 mm deep with a 6 mm masonry bit and use the wall plugs.
- How do I clean it?
- Follow the care label for your fabric. Most just need a vacuum with a soft brush and spot cleaning.
安全。 Check for wiring and pipes before you drill, and wear eye protection when drilling masonry or tile. Corded tracks must be fitted so no loose loop of 220 mm or longer hangs lower than 1600 mm above the floor.
