How to Choose Curtains

  1. 1

    Fabric Weight

Sheer/voile: light, airy, daytime privacy. Lightweight cotton/linen: casual, breathable, natural look. Midweight polyester blends: durable, easy-care, best value. Heavyweight velvet/brocade: formal, excellent insulation, sound dampening. Avoid silk for north/west-facing windows in Australia — UV degrades it quickly.

  2. 2

    Lining Options

Unlined: budget, less protection. Thermal lining: acrylic-coated, improves energy efficiency. Blockout lining: three-layer, near-total light block, best heat retention. Dimout/triple-weave: woven, softer feel, blocks most light without coating.

  3. 3

    Heading Styles

S Wave: modern, flowing wave pattern with even folds — creates a clean, contemporary look. Pinch Pleat: classic tailored pleats stitched at the top — formal and elegant, in Double (two folds per pleat) or Triple (three folds, fuller and more formal) at the same price. Knife Pleat: sleek, streamlined pleats for a refined, modern finish. All three styles work with our track systems (Slim Fit, Square, and Motorised).

    Room-by-Room Guide

Bedroom: blockout lining + Pinch Pleat or S Wave. Living room: linen or poly blend + S Wave or Knife Pleat. Kitchen: midweight, easy-clean fabric + Knife Pleat. Home office: sheer front + blockout on double track.

    Colour and Pattern

Match curtain warmth tone to wall warmth tone. Light colours open up small rooms. Solid colours and textures age better than bold prints. When in doubt, choose a neutral tone one shade deeper than your walls.

    Track Selection

Slim Fit: low-profile track, ideal for minimalist spaces. Square: robust profile, suits heavier fabrics. Motorised: remote-controlled operation, perfect for hard-to-reach windows or wide spans. Available in white and black to match your interior.

Questions

What is the difference between thermal and blockout lining?
Thermal lining is a single acrylic-coated layer that improves insulation but still allows some light through. Blockout lining is a three-layer construction (white-black-white) that blocks nearly all light and provides better heat retention. Blockout is heavier and more expensive.
What heading styles do you offer?
We offer S Wave, Pinch Pleat, and Knife Pleat. S Wave creates a modern flowing look, Pinch Pleat is classic and tailored (choose Double or Triple folds at the same price), and Knife Pleat gives a sleek streamlined finish. All work with our Slim Fit, Square, and Motorised track systems.
Which fabric is best for an Australian west-facing window?
Polyester blends or solution-dyed acrylic fabrics resist UV fading best. Avoid silk and natural fibres on west-facing windows — Australian afternoon sun is intense and will degrade them within 1–2 years. Add blockout lining as a UV shield for the face fabric.
How can I preview curtains in my room?
